I wanted a dramatic backsplash, a mosaic or tile pattern, a mural, something interesting, something that would really personalize the kitchen and tie it into the natural landscape. I was thinking a tree, but I couldn't find anything that I really liked. (the "Italian countryside" and "wine bottle with grapes" themes are waaay overused). And then I found this:



perfect.

I had already basically decided on the tile, which is a gorgeous iridescent blend:



and the cabinets I've pretty much decided on, the configuration will be different...



and a ceramic tile slate look floor, easy to clean, and fairly inexpensive, laid out in a pattern. now need to decide on plumbing, lighting, and appliances...

It will be so great to let go of the weak white laminate cabinets and peeling countertops, the leaky sink...hopefully we can be done by end of summer!

So pretty! Just like you! I love the tree. Think about a couple of glass fronted cabinets - it is fun to be able to display some strange stuff (or different). If I could ever get organized, there would be more than towels stuffed in mine!!!

I love the glass tile colors. :) And the tree tile is gorgeous, too.
